Strictly Drum And Bass - Part Four.

It's currently a playlist with just over 80 tracks, but i still feel as if it's incomplete, which is odd as it's a series of playlists and never will reach completion unless of course i feature every dnb/jungle track on Spotify.

Hospital records for one reason or another have taken off a lot of material including Mistabishi's album Drop, which i had raided for my first 3 playlists. Without their wealth of material i had to delve into last.fm's reccomended artists to try and find some artists that produce good dnb but are'nt on any major dnb labels. That is easy enough, but then obviously Spotify tends to have very little in the way of dnb indy material.

Grid and Ram records are represented, Hospital still has a handful of tracks, cause4concern have a fair few tracks too. beta recordings would be nice to have, as would be breakbeat chaos, not only for Pendulums first album but also for DJ Fresh's escape from planet monday, which IS on Spotify but not in the UK. Tru Playaz, Ganja records are all absent.

In a world where i could easily find any dnb 12" on a torrent site and get it for free, it seems odd that these labels are still holding out on the digital revolution, i understand that if they put up new tracks the rave scene would come to a halt, but i'm talking of labels that have 100's of releases, and also refuse to join the itunes revolution too.

I would never pay £3 for one file on download, even though back in the day i would pay £5.99 for a one sided vinyl, but that was when there were fewer markets to sell your product, and let's not forget this important fact, the label recieves money for EVERY play on Spotify, yes it's something like 0.01p but as Spotify grows into bigger markets, you could be getting 5'000 plays a day for certain tracks.

If you want to search Spotify by label, just put this in the search window - label:example
and replace example with the label of your choice, sometimes they like to add recordings or records to the end, so if it fails try again but like this - label:example-records

I'm slightly off topic, but i just thought i'd vent a little bit, as this seems like the ideal place.
